Hi, I’m Jean Willoughby. As a clinical herbalist, I’m dedicated to serving my community and clients with holistic approaches to health and herbal medicines that are safe, effective, and affordable.

Trained at David Winston’s Center for Herbal Studies and the Herbal Academy, I’ve been as impressed by the skills and knowledge of my fellow herbalists as I have been by the healing powers of herbs.

A few years ago, I wrote Nature’s Remedies: An Illustrated Guide to Healing Herbs to share some of what I’d been lucky to learn about these remarkable plants referred to simply as herbal remedies.

Today, I rely on herbs, nutrition, exercise, and proven stress relief techniques to help myself, my family and friends, and people I work with live more vibrant and healthier lives.

My formal education includes training in anatomy and physiology, botany, phytochemistry, and herbal history and traditions, including Classical and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, and several schools of Traditional Western Medicine.

I gained a strong foundation in biology and chemistry through my studies with professors and PhD candidates engaged in research on infectious and parasitic diseases at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro. I continue to build on my training through reading, conferences, webinars, and courses with doctors, naturopathic physicians, and other herbalists.

BotanicalCulture.org is a labor of love, an homage to greatness of herbal medicine, and a way of paying forward what I’ve learned. From beloved herbs to lesser-known herbalists, I’m excited to introduce you to some of the best in the botanical world.
